Evangeline
A Vampire Romance (House Arturo Book 4)
Evangeline. House Arturo Book 4
This is a Happily Ever After Vampire Novel. Warning: Explicit dominant sex. If you like the work of Anna Hackett and Eva Langais, you will love this. It’s hot, steamy and pant wetting. Enjoy!
Description:
Born of an evangelical mother and vampiric father. Eve was a rarity. So was her sister. Dhampir’s. Born Vampires, the rarest of all. She was faster, a better fighter and more deadly than her re-born counter parts and the Vampire world knew it and feared her. Her father was a Lord and in more barbaric times, a tribal King. Her mother full of grace and they loved her. The life she was born into was hard and punishing. She knew her duty and obeyed it. When the blood challenges came, she killed to protect those she loved. She was a Lords born daughter and she would fight to protect them all.
James had lived with degradation and destruction for over 117 years. Only when powerful enough did he let his beast out and kill his master and those around him, only to became him. The stain on his life took many years to finally bury the monster back inside himself and he feared ever letting it out again. For 400 years James kept it hidden deep within him. Buried so deep, he could almost forget. Almost, if the nightmares let him. One fateful look at Eve and the monster rose to demand freedom. James feared his baser needs, what he craved. He would require all his power to protect Eve.
To demand and take what was his….
Forward:
Eve had been at the Elite training ground for most of the day. She was an intracule part of one of the human/Vamp teams. The training had been hard even for someone like her. Her learning curve had been steep. Many of her preconceived ideas on humans were stripped away very quickly.
These were a different kind of human. They fought. They waged war. They won. Seeing them at their best during the take down of the kidnap attempt on Ena had reinforced her respect for those around her. Her curiosity when Gia had walked out of the interrogation of the failed kidnappers and seeing Ena walk in had been surprising. So had the screaming that had started soon after.
Ena could cause as much damage as the best vamp and she was another human, well kind of. Eve had learnt much from Ena and her black ops people. There were many ways to get something done. If you were willing to go there. As a day walker. Eve was used to being the deadliest thing in the room. That was no longer particularly true. She was one of many deadly people here.
A Dhampir. Young in vamp terms with the power of a master. She could move faster, strike harder, kill more effectively than anyone she knew and she’d had to kill a lot of vamps in the protection of her family. They were a mystery to Vamp society. There were very few of them. Dhampir’s were an unknown quantity to the Vampire world and given a wide birth. Few were willing to take them on for good reason. The vamp nation cried out for progeny but few were born. She and her sister were an abnormality, a curiosity, prised.
Much coveted by many, for the answers they needed. No one knew why her conception had been successful for her and her sister. It was very rare indeed. Her father had been a blood thirsty monster for hundreds of years. Vile and murderous. Her mother had been dedicated to god in a time of ravished lands. Their meeting changed them both.
It was no wonder then, that she, the ultimate vampire, was the combination of both. Innocence in many ways. beautiful to be sure and very very deadly ……
James had been re-born into a world of slavery and degradation. He had been made into a creature of death and ruined humanity. He had done the worst that this world offered and had had those things done to him for over a hundred years. He had learnt quickly to hide his growing power from his master. His master careful that his children didn’t show signs of power. He killed them quickly so not to be a threat to him. James had learnt that lesson well. Had hid his power. Let it grow. Kept it hidden, buried deep within him. Until he knew without a doubt that he could kill his master and all his sycophants and free them all. And he had, without mercy. Rampaging through them all, his power at last free, bringing death to all those that sort it.
With time came reflection. Never wanting to be the image of his previous master, James pulled his beast back under control. He shuddered at the death and destruction he had brought to many. His power had no bounds. He had allowed it to rule him, just as his master had. And it sickened him. For hundreds of years thereafter, he had buried his history under the appearance of nonchalant soldier. The carefree Vampire, no strings, no ties. Kept his power hidden. Hidden deep within him. Only Arturo knew who he was. What his master had given him and the nightmares a constant reminder. Unable to get passed what he had become, he’d found his place in this world and had accepted it.
Until Eve walked into that cocktail party and woke up his beast. It roared …. Mine!
A word from the Author.
Hello, I'm Jessie and I thank you for buying this book! I know you did not have to. There are so many choices out there. It's a wonderful feeling knowing that someone else will enjoy one of my stories. And for me, it's about telling a story that I'd like to read myself.
I am not caught up in POV or literacy genius. It's simply not me or my style and I will never be that person, so I apologize to all those who are focused on the POV and the genius of literacy. I envy those that are.

Previously:
Alex heard movement from inside the basement, it sounded like it came from quite far back, another room. “Tell them we are coming in and to not be afraid.” Alex told Pete. Pete appeared to be just going to call out again when Alex heard a female voice. “That would be unwise.” She told them. Alex looked around to verify that he hadn’t imagined it. Val gave a nod. “And why is that?” He called out. “You do not know what awaits you.” She answered calmly. Alex had to concede she was right. “What’s your name, I’m Pete”. He told her. “Pete,” she repeated. “Your human, your friends however are not.” She told him. “Do they own you?” Pete laughed. “No, they do not, Val might wish she did but no, we are friends and colleagues, lovers and mates.” “Such a thing is allowed here?” The female voice asked incredibly. “It is no one’s business but ours.” He told her honestly. “Now, why don’t you tell me your name and come out to see us?” He asked her. Alex could make out movement of the voice going back into the building and murmurings and moved closer to the opening. He could make out the female arguing with two others, one sounded younger, one older. There was a male voice too. It sounded like a vamp. He told the female voice to kill him.
Alex turned to his people. “We go in now quickly.” He told them and moved into the underground space. He vamped down the stairs to what appeared to be an open storage room. A corridor opened ahead. There seemed several rooms laid out. He and Steven moved on the right side, Val and Pete on the left. His men eased down behind them all as they moved forward. They quickly came to the room with voices. “Their here.” He heard the male say. Alex nodded to Steven to open the door. “Slowly.” He mouthed. Steven picked up a piece of wood and pushed the door open so they could see in.
The room was lit. Candles. The power was out as in the rest of the compound. The room was cast in shadows. He could clearly see three human females, one a child of maybe eight, a young woman in her twenties and an older female and a male vamp laying on a stretcher behind them. The younger one came rushing forward, “No Angelique” the male called out. “Hurt my family and I will kill you.” She told them all fire and spit. The young woman in her twenties moved to the younger child, “Angelique stay behind me, you are worrying our father.” Alex looked on as the child moved behind her. “Your name.” Pete asked again. “I am Evangeline and this is my family.” She told him proudly. “And what Ang told you will come to pass if you harm them.” Alex moved into the room. He addressed the older woman. “Mam, we are not here to harm you but to assist. Please allow us to help you.” The woman gazed over at him. She had an air of something about her. “Unless you are prepared to aid my husband there will be no help here this day and my daughter will kill you all.” She told him.
Alex looked at the woman. “The male, is your mate?” “He is my husband and mate, yes.” Alex turned to his people. “Help them.” Val moved forward towards the females, “I am Valentina and my mate is Pete, let us help you.” The women seemed to relax but watched cautiously as they came into the room. Val moved further into the room and must have caught sight of the vampire. She stilled for a fraction, then in vamp speed grabbed the females pulling them out the way. “Marcus.” She called out. The female Evangeline broke free of Val, a feat in itself and stood in front of Marcus. “I will kill anyone who tries to harm him.” The younger child Ang also broke free and stood with her sister. “Compelled?” Asked Pete confused by their actions. “No.” Alex answered him. “They have free will.” “But they broke free of Val.” Pete asked. “Human’s couldn’t do that.” “No,” said Evangeline, “we are not fully human. We are hybrids.”
“Eve, my angel do not fight them. I knew some of them once. They were better people than I then. Let them help us. I can do no more child. You know this and you have done enough.” Luce watched the young woman known as Eve walk towards Marcus. “Father, we are not unable to defend ourselves, you know this.” She told him. Luce watched the effort on the vamp’s face as he tried to lift his arm and touch the females face in a caress. “You have become a young woman I am so very proud of but you cannot do this alone. Think of your sister, she has seen enough pain. Do not allow her to have more of these memories.” Luce watched as the female known as Eve held onto what appeared to be her father’s hand and hold it tight. “Please allow me to go to my husband.” The older woman asked Val. Val let her go. Luce watched as the older woman approached bringing the younger child with her. “My love, you have done all you could to protect us. Let us now do the same for you.” She told him. To Luce the male looked very weak. “Serenity, I never understood how the fates could think I deserved you and never stopped thinking how a man as I got so lucky.” Luce could feel the love over the camera’s and coms. The woman Serenity moved forward and laid her head on the male’s chest and held him to her as best she could.
Alex moved forward. “Marcus? Is that you? I do not understand what is going on here. We were told you were challenging Arturo for his territory?” Marcus looked close to death to Alex. Something had happened here that was terrible. “Serenity, give us a moment please.” Marcus asked her. Alex gazed at the woman who would hold the title Lady Serenity as she moved back to allow him access. Marcus looked up at him. Alex hardly recognised his old adversary. “It has been a long-time Alex.” He told him weakly. “It has Marcus. What happened here?” Alex watched the struggle across Marcus’ face. “I was a male reduced to nothing but hate and vengeance when we last met, I know I have done you wrong. I cannot change that but you were always a better male than I. I would ask you to protect my family Alex. I would have your word.” He pleaded. Alex struggled with doing so but nodded. “You have it.” Marcus blinked, looking relived. Alex would never have believed it had he not just seen it with his own eyes.
“They came to me in Europe. I was happy Alex. Had a good life. My territory was sound, healthy. It took me a very long time to pull in my demon. To not live in struggle. There were days when I could remember and wish to be dead.” Marcus looked over to his wife. “Then the light came to me and I could hold it back.” Marcus looked back at him. “They told me that I had been given the territory here. That Arturo had fallen and the territory was in disarray in need of strong leadership.” Marcus coughed. When he calmed, Alex passed him some water. Marcus drank. “Serenity tell them.” He whispered. Alex turned to the Lady Serenity. She reached out and held Marcus’s hand.
“They came to our land saying that his old companion had fallen and asked that a strong leader take over to save the colony. That Marcus had been his request at his death. Marcus did not believe it, he knew Arturo would have remembered him as the monster he was and we did not wish to come, to leave our own people. Marcus no longer wished for territories, we were happy as we were. In fact, he refused. They told him if he wanted to protect his family, he had to go. They used us against him. And still, my male refused.” She told him with pride. “Marcus knew that we would fig
ht and they would not take us easily. Our warriors were many and strong. And they didn’t. We left a trail of blood in our wake.
But we were not enough. They went after Angelique. And brought her to this Country knowing we would follow. Marcus became the monster he had contained for the last hundreds of years in his fight to find her. He accessed his darkest power and became again, that which he had hated most. He became what they wanted. It took us many weeks to find her and all the time, we heard rumours of Marcus battling or killing mercilessly, while he was actually with us, it made no sense. We eventually found her here. By that time, our loyal guard was almost gone, our younger men taken over. And they told us if Marcus put on a good enough show, they would let us live. If not, my children would be whored out. My seven year old baby.” She told him calmly. “Ang had killed several of her ‘carer’s’, Eve, ashed a whole lot more. They thought twice about using us again.
They said and did things that they knew would push Marcus to struggle to contain his rage. And still, he refused to be used by them. They had someone who looked like him. They said all they needed was to make it known Marcus was here, tell his people they were working for him and they could use that. We were being held in one of the outer buildings at the other compound. When it got hit, our carers took off. We managed to get out and I remembered one of the guards complaining about having to leave this compound as it had been hit, so we came here thinking no one would think of coming back and it would give us time.” Alex wondered how this woman had stayed so strong. “What is wrong with Marcus?” He asked her. She turned back to Marcus and brushed his hair covered in wet from his face. Marcus’s body was also soaked. “They refused to feed him hoping his hunger would make him kill us, but he was stronger than that. I fed him for as long as I could, Eve was able to for a time. But he refused after that. One of them offered him some bagged blood. It came from one of his own people. He didn’t trust it. But couldn’t smell or taste anything in it. He drank grateful he had the chance to do so. It was tainted. Its killing him slowly. He used too much of himself trying to protect us time and time again when they came for us, he has nothing left to push the poison out and he would need stronger blood to do it.”
